Terra Linda beat crosstown rival San Rafael 18-7 in boys water polo on Tuesday, Sept. 22. The result capped a busy two days for San Rafael-area teams across three sports.
San Rafael senior Elijah Sonnenborn scored four goals in the loss, according to the Marin Independent Journal. Freshman Cash Pearson added two goals and Sean Welch had one.
Volleyball: Bulldogs roll past Galileo
Abby Sims posted 16 assists, eight digs and six kills as San Rafael swept Galileo in three sets on Monday, Sept. 21. Shelby Sims contributed eight kills and 11 digs, and Alexis Moezzi added three kills for the Bulldogs, who improved to 18-5.
The win came after San Rafael dropped its MCAL opener to Archie Williams on Sept. 18. Sims was named MVP of the St. Helena tournament on Sept. 12 after recording 98 assists, 21 kills and 22 aces in a 6-0 sweep.
San Marin visits San Rafael on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 6:30 p.m.
Flag football: San Rafael blanks Archie Williams again
San Rafael (2-4) posted its second consecutive shutout, beating Archie Williams (0-7) 20-0 on Monday, Sept. 21, according to MaxPreps.
San Rafael plays at Archie Williams on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 4:30 p.m.
Flag football: Redwood rolls past Marin Catholic
Redwood (8-3) routed Marin Catholic 38-6 on Tuesday, Sept. 22, as Giants quarterback Annaliese Pyle threw for 230 yards and four touchdowns on 15-for-27 passing, confirmed by MaxPreps. Pyle also ran six times for 106 yards, including a 51-yard dash.
Rawlings Skelton caught touchdown passes of 63 and 19 yards. Milana Carlen, Brooklyn Rose and Rayne Meyers also hauled in scoring passes. Finley Tiscareno anchored the Redwood defense with two interceptions, a sack and two stops as the Giants held Marin Catholic to 152 total yards.
Marin Catholic quarterback Marlise Moraes completed 6 of 31 passes for 125 yards with one touchdown pass to Charlotte Bogan. The Wildcats fell to 3-6 in their inaugural flag football season.
"Our goal is to build a program at Marin Catholic where the girls want to play," coach Dan Munoz said Sept. 13 after a loss to St. Ignatius.
Marin Catholic plays at University on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 4 p.m. Terra Linda boys water polo travels to Alameda at 7 p.m.
