The Marin County Sheriff's Office arrested a contracted caretaker suspected of using clients' credit card to make fraudulent purchases.

Detectives from the sheriff's Investigations Division arrested Sergio Spikes, the agency announced on X on Tuesday, Sept. 8. The sheriff's office publicly identified Spikes in its appeal for additional victims to come forward.

Spikes worked as a contracted caretaker and is suspected of using his victims' credit card to rack up fraudulent charges, according to the sheriff's office. The agency did not specify what formal charges Spikes faces or whether the case involves felony or misdemeanor counts.

Deputies searched Spikes' home and car during the investigation. They cataloged items purchased with the victims' credit card, the sheriff's office said in a separate Instagram post.

The agency did not say how many victims have been identified. It also did not disclose Spikes' age or city of residence.

No court date has been announced.

The sheriff's office is now asking anyone who hired Spikes to care for a loved one to contact the agency if they believe that person may also be a victim. Residents with information can call the Marin County Sheriff's Office non-emergency line at 415-479-2311.
