Ticket sales from a Saturday night concert by singer Maria Muldaur, whose latest album earned a Grammy nomination in February, will help pay for performing-arts programs at three San Rafael elementary schools.

Muldaur and her Jazzabelle Quintet play the Lark Theater in Larkspur on Saturday, July 25, at 7:30 p.m. The show, titled "Blues & All That Jazz," is co-presented by Marin Jazz and the Lark Theater, and proceeds go to Marin Jazz's Future Stars after-school program. That program operates at Glenwood, Lucas Valley and Vallecito elementary schools in San Rafael, as well as Lynwood Elementary in Novato, according to the nonprofit's website.

Marin Jazz, a 501(c)(3) whose mission is advancing jazz education and performance, says it offers scholarships funded by its live music events. The Future Stars program teaches acting, movement, music and production skills, with students rehearsing at the West End Studio Theater at 1544 Fourth St. in San Rafael and performing at the Lark Theater.

Muldaur is best known for "Midnight at the Oasis," released in 1973 and nominated for Record of the Year at the 1975 Grammys.

"How lucky am I that I sang this funny little song about a camel 53 years ago, and people still get excited about hearing it?" she told the Pacific Sun in an interview published July 21.

The Larkspur concert will draw from her latest album, One Hour Mama: The Blues of Victoria Spivey, which earned a Best Traditional Blues Album nomination at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards in February 2026. The album pays tribute to Spivey, a contemporary of Bessie Smith who mentored Muldaur early in her career. Collaborators on the record include Taj Mahal, Elvin Bishop and New Orleans ensemble Tuba Skinny.

In September 2019, the Americana Music Association honored Muldaur with its Lifetime Achievement Americana Trailblazer Award.

Muldaur's Jazzabelle Quintet features pianist John R. Burr, bassist Ruth Davies, guitarist Danny Caron, Kristin Strom on saxophone, flute and clarinet, and drummer Ronnie Smith. The setlist will also include "Don't You Feel My Leg," a 1940s New Orleans blues tune, and "Loan Me Your Husband."
