San Rafael Councilmember Eli Hill is the only candidate listed for District 2 ahead of the Nov. 3 election. Three San Rafael City Schools board members also have no opposing candidates listed in their respective races, according to Marin County’s candidate filings.
District 3 has a contested council race between Daryoush Davidi and Robert Sandoval, according to Patch’s San Rafael voter guide.
Hill, first elected in 2022, is seeking another four-year term. His official candidate statement lists his age as 49 and notes his previous service on the city’s Planning Commission and Fire Commission.
On the school board, Wing Keung Jason Lau is the sole listed candidate for Area 2, Carolina Martin for Area 4 and Kennedy Rodas-Dias for a short term in Area 5. The county identifies Lau and Rodas-Dias as appointed incumbents.
Across Marin County, Bay City News reported 55 uncontested races, citing the Elections Department. Its Oct. 19 report described some offices being filled by appointment rather than an election.
On Sept. 8, county supervisors approved appointments in place of special-district elections. The accompanying candidate list names 54 nominees, and the county’s vote certification confirms unanimous approval.
A staff report from Registrar of Voters Natalie Adona said appointments help avoid election costs and vacancies in essential-service districts. It also warned that appointments could preserve established networks unless supervisors consider representation and use transparent selection criteria.
Mail ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 3 and received by Nov. 10. Voters returning ballots to official drop boxes must do so by 8 p.m. on Election Day, according to state election deadlines.
