Nate Greenberg rifled a long shot into the net with less than a second left, lifting Archie Williams past Tam 9-8.

The MCAL boys water polo game Thursday, Sept. 17, in Mill Valley capped a three-goal Peregrine Falcons rally in the final three minutes.

The Falcons trailed by two goals when the comeback began. Chris Tomlin scored twice in the final 23 seconds, slipping behind Tam's defense for a quick goal, then burying a 5-meter shot to tie it at 8-8. Greenberg finished the job on a fast break.

"You just can't get too high or too low," Greenberg told the Marin Independent Journal. "You have to forget the last points and focus on what's happening now."

Greenberg, the reigning MCAL Player of the Year who has committed to UCLA, led Archie Williams with four goals. He earned first-team all-league honors in 2023 and 2024 before winning the top individual award in 2025, according to MCAL records. Junior Beckett Kaye, a 2025 MCAL honorable mention selection, added two goals in the first half. Sophomores Alex Ruud and Schuyler Hill each scored in the second half.

Tam's Jasper Feldman led all scorers with five goals. He tied the game at 3-3 before halftime with two goals in under a minute, then put the Red-tailed Hawks ahead by two with three minutes left. Sammy Meleis added three goals for Tam and Rogan Burke scored in the third quarter.

Tam head coach Jason Hornik, who coached Greenberg at Archie Williams two years ago, praised the Falcons senior after the loss. Greenberg, Hornik said, is "one of the best in the county" and tough to contain.

The win moved Archie Williams to 4-3 overall and 2-0 in MCAL play. Tam dropped to 2-3 and 1-1 in league.

Both teams face stiff tests next. Archie Williams takes on San Marin, the defending North Coast Section Division II champion. Tam draws Redwood, the defending North Coast Section Division I champion. The MCAL championship game is set for Oct. 31 at noon at Archie Williams, according to the MCAL playoff schedule.
