San Rafael’s Civic Center vote center added weekend hours Saturday, Oct. 24, as three additional Marin County locations opened ahead of the Nov. 3 election.
The San Rafael site is at the Marin County Elections Department, 3501 Civic Center Drive, Room 121, according to a county news release. That location is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday before Election Day. It first opened Oct. 5.
The additional centers opening Oct. 24 are in Marin City, Novato and San Geronimo. Hours for those sites are listed on the county’s vote-center page.
Registrar of Voters Natalie Adona encouraged voters to act soon. “Early voting helps us process ballots sooner and gives voters more time to resolve any issues if needed,” Adona said in the release. She urged voters who plan to mail their ballots to send them by Oct. 27 to ensure timely delivery.
Voters who want their selections reflected in the first election-night results should also return ballots by Oct. 27, according to a separate county early-voting announcement published Oct. 5. Voters mailing ballots in the final week are advised to go inside the post office and request a hand-stamped postmark.
Oct. 27 is a recommended mailing date, not the legal deadline. Ballots returned in person must arrive by 8 p.m. Nov. 3. Mailed ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 3 and received within seven days after Election Day, according to the California Secretary of State.
Marin voters can visit any vote center in the county, not just the one nearest their home.
The Elections Department will open 15 more vote centers Oct. 31, including two additional San Rafael locations: First Presbyterian Church at 1510 Fifth Ave. and the Health and Human Services Wellness Center at 3240 Kerner Blvd. Two more centers open on Election Day, Nov. 3, one of them at the Albert J. Boro Community Center at 50 Canal St. in San Rafael.
Ballot drop boxes are available at 19 locations countywide. At the Civic Center, boxes sit at the South Arch on Peter Behr Drive and the North Arch on Vera Schultz Drive. A third box inside the Middle Arch lobby is accessible weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and weekends from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with extended hours of 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day. Voters can also drop off ballots at any vote center during its operating hours.
Voters can track their mail ballot through Where’s My Ballot?. For questions, contact the Elections Department at 415-473-6456 or toll-free at 833-644-2061. All vote centers are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 3.
