A documentary about Tom Diettrich and his San Rafael denim shop is scheduled to screen at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, at the Smith Rafael Film Center, according to the official festival listing.

“The Right Fit,” co-directed by Nicolas Collins and Max Mollring, profiles Diettrich, owner of Jeans to a T. The 13-minute film is part of the Mill Valley Film Festival’s “Stay Free” shorts program, which also had a showing scheduled Oct. 5 in Larkspur.

As we reported Oct. 2, the documentary focuses on the longtime local shopkeeper. A 2011 profile published on Patch dates the store’s opening to June 1977.

Diettrich, Collins, Mollring and producer and cinematographer Jonathan Salazar are listed as expected guests.

The theater is at 1118 Fourth St. The screening is currently on standby. MVFF lists shorts admission at $12 and says standby tickets are offered in person shortly before screenings, subject to availability. See the festival’s ticket information or call 415-818-8757.
